What the hell just happened?
My thoughts as Ulster ran in yet another try last weekend against Munster. They were also my thoughts as Munster lost to Connacht over Christmas. Are Munster in trouble? Is there something going horribly wrong? If so, can it be fixed?
The sheer size of the reaction to the last two defeats just goes to show how far Munster rugby has come. The home game against Ulster last weekend was a sell out. The crowd was adorned in new Munster gear. Everything from hip flasks to baby grows. From hats and scarves to “stadium jackets”. The bums were on the seats, but the entertainment was missing. That is something that is becoming a stick for Munster to be beaten with. Dare I say it, the pressure of managing this Munster side is akin to managing Man U or Real Madrid. Win every game and win every game well or else you are in trouble. The average fan on the street has now spent thousands following Munster and some may feel that they want their value now. The other aspect of course is something Paul O Connell has spoken about before. Munster are expected to win every game now.
