Racing Tips

by Derek Nolan

Another weekend and another result for the winning post with Side Glance who won the Totescoop6 Handicap at Chester on Saturday, he opened up at odds of 6/1 and was well backed into 9/2 2nd favourite.
This weekend I am looking at another couple of bets for the main races on Saturday.
At Goodwood in the Windflower March Stakes a listed race over 1 mile 6 furlongs. I like the look of Golden Sword who has proven form in this class, its last placed form was 3rd at Meyan in Dubai in a valuable group 2 race but if we look back to 2009 we can see a group 3 win at Chester beating Masterof thehorse and Debussy.
Debussy won the Arlington Million on Saturday night in America in a great race so the form is worth a second look.
Goodwood 2:30 – Golden Sword.
The Celebration Mile goes off at 3:05 and the best horse by far is Premio Loco his last 4 wins were all class 1 events and 3 of those were over 1 mile.
Its last 15 races this gelding has won 9 times and was only 3 lengths behind Rip Van Winkle and Canford Cliffs in the Sussex stakes last time out. That form is exceptional and this horse is sure to be popular for the win on Saturday.
Goodwood 3:05 – Premio Loco.
In the fillies Group 3 race off at 3:40 we again have another decent chance of a return in the form of Sonning Rose who is officially rated 98 after its 3 runs and is good enough to be in the top 3 places here.
She is out of Hawk Wing and won her maiden stakes at Pontefract over 6 furlongs. Sonning Rose was always going to be better stepped up in trip and class as we seen last time out in a 7 furlong listed run finishing 2nd that day.
On ratings she has Hooray to beat and might just be a bit of value on race day due to that fact.
Goodwood 3:40 – Sonning Rose
All bets to win and place.
