The weekend that was

Over the weekend we were covered in sport really. Limerick played host to the Special Olympics, more on that in the paper this week. There was Ireland versus the All Blacks, more on that in a second and there was GAA/NBA/MLB/AFL and then of course the World Cup.
All of those sports graced my TV screen. The one good thing about the summer is that the sunshine during the day allows you the energy to stay up later and watch sports. The NBA finals are poised at 3-2 Celtics. If you don't watch basketball, just watch these two in action. It is worth every second. They are the biggest franchises/teams and they are going toe to toe over the next few days.
The main match of the weekend for me anyway was South Africa versus France in the rugby. This was a chance to see who are the best side in the World at present. The answer of course is the Boks. The Super 14 champion Blues served as a back bone to the win against the touring French who were off the back of their grand slam up this side of the World. Does this mean once more that the South out rank the north? Yes it does. It will continue this way until the IRB do something about the rules. Just ask Jamie Heaslip. I am not defending him, but if that breakdown was refereed properly then there would not have been a need to knee.
As for the World Cup. I would write something here about the less than medicore start, but I am going to the doctor to get my ears checked. I have a ringing in my ears. It sounds like a sound of bees and comes on for 90 minutes, three times a day.
