AS PART of a new round of sponsorship programmes running at LIT, AIB have announced that it is to sponsor the ‘Assistive Technology Centre’ at LIT, which is a new initiative developed with funding provided by AIB. The Assistive Technology Centre features leading technology and a bespoke setting which will augment teaching, research and learning for students with physical disabilities. SHANNON Applied Biotechnology Centre (Shannon ABC), a research, development and innovation centre based in Munster, is hosting a conference on Open Innovation this Thursday and Friday at LIT. The conference will be attended by Minister of State Brian Hayes and will be officially opened by Dr Maria Hinfelaar, President of LIT. Open innovation is a concept that assumes that firms can and should use external as well as internal ideas and paths to market, as the firms look to advance their technology.
